the return

There is something warmly alluring about the smell of coriander. The tiny seeds contain a motley of aroma with notes of sweet citrus, woods, herbaceousness, and spice. It uplifts a low mood and relaxes frazzled nerves. When I wear coriander, though, it moves me deeper than mood and nerves. It imbues a sense of return – the feeling of being at home in my heart and comfortable in my body. It reassures me that all of our seemingly different and opposing parts are actually what makes us interesting. As any lover of Walt Whitman would recite, “Do I contradict myself? Very well, then I contradict myself. (I am large, I contain multitudes.)”
